WCMC collaborates with the United Nations Environment Programme

To promote the conservation, protection and enhancement of nature

Vacancies

In our collaborative work with UNEP we employ a team of around a hundred scientists and technicians, most of whom are educated to masters or doctorate level, together with a small, high-quality administrative team.

We are constantly looking for talented people to join us, so if you think you would fit in and are eligible to work in the UK, our current vacancies are listed on the UNEP-WCMC website and we invite you to view them here.

Volunteer Trustees for Biodiversity Charity

We are seeking two Trustees to join the WCMC Board. WCMC is a UK charity that promotes the conservation, protection, enhancement and support of nature and natural resources worldwide. We do this by collecting, storing, analysing, interpreting and sharing data and knowledge to further understanding of biodiversity and the conservation of nature. We believe good data and knowledge are the foundations of informed decision-making.

WCMC operates in a collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) within the UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC), based in Cambridge, UK. Our work brings together governments, businesses, NGOs and research bodies to put nature at the heart of decision-making and drive positive change. We are uniquely placed to ensure our science, knowledge and insights shape global and national policy.

In the last five years WCMC has grown its influence and impact and currently has over 200 staff and annual income of over £16m. With the launch of our new strategy in 2022 we have a clear focus on creating the kind of transformative and systemic changes required to achieve our vision of a world living in harmony with nature.

We are seeking two Trustees to join the WCMC Board. If you have a strong commitment to the conservation and restoration of nature, experience working at an international level, and can contribute to the diversity of thinking across our Board, we’d be interested in hearing from you. We are particularly looking for experience in:

-  finance and accounting expertise, or;
-  legal experience relevant to international organisations, or;
-  digital product development and marketing, or;
-  communications, or;
-  safeguarding

If you think you have the experience, skills, and qualities we are looking for, we very much look forward to hearing from you. For more information and details of how to apply or if you would like to arrange an informal conversation, please contact: peopleteam@unep-wcmc.org
